ABOUT SAAVEDRA INSTRUMENTS
INSTRUMENTS DESIGNED AROUND THE MUSICIAN
Saavedra Instruments was founded by musician, electronics designer, and longtime electrical professional Kirk Saavedra with a straightforward philosophy: technology should support the creative process, not complicate it.
Saavedra Instruments develops dedicated electronic musical instruments with a focus on straightforward operation, hands-on control, and purposeful design. Every instrument is created around a specific musical purpose, with controls and features selected because they contribute to the way musicians actually work.
For Kirk Saavedra, that approach comes from years of working with electronic music equipment as both a musician and builder. Rather than designing products around the longest possible feature list, the goal is to create hardware that feels immediate, understandable, and useful from the moment it is turned on.
The Sketchpad One represents that philosophy—a powerful 16-track MIDI sequencer designed to make recording, arranging, and controlling a hardware MIDI setup fast and intuitive.
PURPOSE-BUILT HARDWARE
Saavedra Instruments is focused on developing hardware that does its job exceptionally well. Rather than building products around endless menus and unnecessary complexity, we concentrate on the functions that matter and make them accessible.
That philosophy guides Kirk Saavedra's approach to product design at Saavedra Instruments. Each product begins with a practical question: What problem does this solve for the musician? If a piece of hardware doesn't have a clear purpose in the creative workflow, there isn't a reason to build it.
From touchscreen interfaces and tactile controls to MIDI integration and standalone operation, each design is developed as a complete musical instrument—not simply a collection of features.
BUILT FOR MUSICIANS. DESIGNED WITH PURPOSE.
The idea behind Saavedra Instruments grew directly from Kirk Saavedra's own experience as a musician. Sometimes inspiration arrives quickly, and capturing that idea shouldn't require starting a computer, loading software, configuring a project, and navigating a complicated production environment.
That thinking led to Sketchpad One: a standalone hardware sequencer designed so a musician can turn on their equipment and begin capturing an idea within moments.
And that same principle guides what comes next.
Saavedra Instruments is committed to creating original hardware that brings immediacy back to electronic music making—giving musicians powerful tools without putting complexity between them and their ideas.
